The setback came with the administration revoking the termination of Dr RK Gupta, one of the main accused in the recent arson and vandalism on the campus. The termination was withdrawn on Tuesday after Dr Gupta’s wife filed a petition against the KGMU administration.

Meanwhile, principle secretary Prashant Trivedi has asked the KGMU administration to submitted status report on the working of the various committees investigating the recent incidents at the KGMU.

The KGMU, in its zeal to take action against the accused, had ignored to prepare any chargesheet against Dr RK Gupta and give him an opportunity to explain his position.

Making use of these flaws, Dr Gupta’s wife Dr Suman Gupta moved the high court and the court ordered stay on the termination order.

Now, Dr Gupta has been given a week’s time to explain his position and action, if any, may be taken against him after that. Moreover, the KGMU administration has decided to ‘go slow’ before taking action against the three other accused.
