A MONTH after suspension of 36 UG students and formation of an inquiry committee in connection with arson on the campus, the KGMU suddenly realised ‘something’. They have not taken the version of the students suspended in January. It’s another matter that these students don’t even know the charges levelled at them.

There were two committees formed for probing the arson that took place on January 12, following the death of an MBBS student Deepak Agrawal. One of the committees was formed by the Executive Council and the other by the Vice-Chancellor himself. The committee formed by the varsity’s Executive Committee met on Saturday to review the proceedings that were done in connection with the arson and suspension. It was found that the process of investigation does not have the statements of the accused (suspended students), which was supposed to be done immediately after the committee was formed.

It may be mentioned that the KGMU authorities are yet to find proof against most of the suspended students hence most of them are likely to join the classes without any punishment.

Thus, it was decided that first the suspended students would be called and their statements recorded. However, parents of those students would also be called who have past record for nefarious activities on campus.
