Khandu orders probe into NSCN(K) letter

The Arunachal Pradesh government has ordered a high-level probe to ascertain the authenticity of a letter issued by NSCN(K) asking all the legislators of Tirap and Changlang districts to withdraw support from the ministry.

The Arunachal Pradesh government has ordered a high-level probe to ascertain the authenticity of a letter issued by NSCN(K) asking all the legislators of Tirap and Changlang districts to withdraw support from the ministry.

Talking to PTI, Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu today made it clear that the state government would not heed the diktat of any rebel outfit and would go all-out in its developmental agenda to keep people's aspirations alive.

"I have apprised the Union Home Ministry and written a letter to Union Home Secretary to initiate an inquiry into the entire gamut of the letter from the government of India level too," Khandu said while describing the letter as "politically motivated."

The letter, reportedly signed by the rebel outfit's chief S S Khaplang on March 5, directed all the 12 legislators to "corner" Dorjee Khandu and threatened them with dire consequences if they failed to comply.

Khandu said the Centre was genuinely pursuing the Naga peace process with several rounds of talks with NSCN(IM) while decks have been cleared to begin peace process with the Khaplang faction too. "I hope the decades old Naga problem will be resolved amicably with Centre's initiative and an everlasting peace will prevail soon in the entire region," Khandu added.
