Madan lal Khurana feels. He feels for the masses “who face starvation and unemployment” because of a ‘heartless’ move to seal commercial properties in residential areas across Delhi. That the structures are illegal and were allowed to mushroom, some during Mr Khurana’s chief ministership, does not deter the man from launching a cracked-voice tirade against his own party. The BJP, according to the senior Delhi BJP leader’s reckoning, has utterly failed to come to the rescue of lakhs of people.

Mr Khurana also feels... threatened. Who wouldn’t when one’s usefulness in the state unit of a party that has diminished usefulness itself is becoming more and more doubtful? So if starting a campaign to save citizens falling foul of the law can help resuscitate a drowning political career, where’s the harm? Who cares about the physical quality of life of the rest of the city? Certainly not Mr Khurana. The former Delhi chief minister is awaiting a response from his party chief and has promised us that he will announce his P of A very soon. Not being able to resist a swipe at another senior BJP man, Mr Khurana challenged L.K. Advani to switch raths and launch a yatra in Delhi to highlight the plight of Delhiites with illegal property.
