A 50-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday on charges of brutally dismembering the body of his 40-year-old wife from Punjab Lines area of Ghaziabad, police said.
The initial complaint of the woman's murder was made by her 10-year-old son who studies at a madarsa in Vijay Nagar here.
Riyaz Ahmed Siddiqui was arrested on Wednesday by police officials after he confessed to his crime and helped recover the dismembered body parts of his wife, Aasma Khatoon, from NH-24, police said.
The initial complaint was made by the victim's son, Ahrar Siddiqui, at Ghanta Ghar police station on 28 June.
“My mother had told me a week back that my father is planning her murder and if she goes missing, I should consider her dead,” said a tearful Ahrar.
“We received the boy's complaint that his father had murdered his mother and buried her body inside the house. We started the search operation and dug up the floor of the entire house but only found several blood-stained clothes and a large knife,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) A.K. Vijeta.
Siddiqui was continually interrogated by police for three days before he confessed that he had hacked her body into pieces, stuffed them in two bags and discarded the bags at two different spots on NH-24 with the help of his another accomplice.

{{/usCountry}}“First he beheaded her, then cut her arms and legs and packed them into two bags. One bag was dumped near Dasna on NH-24 and the other in a municipal dustbin. He hired an accomplice to accomplish this job on June 4 around 2:30 a.m.,” Vijeta said.
Siddiqui, who is a contractor with a civic agency, showed no remorse over the murder. “She lived with my mother in Gorakhpur and later confessed that she had poisoned my mother to death. I had been planning to murder her but could do so only after she moved to Ghaziabad,” Siddiqui said.
Police officials registered a case under section 302 (murder), 201 (destruction of evidence), 120 b (criminal conspiracy) and section 34 of IPC against the two murderers. “The other accomplice named Motu is absconding and would soon be arrested,” SP added.
