A box of crayons mistakenly left behind by a child near an ice-cream vendor's cart sparked off a bomb scare in a residential area in the Capital.

The ice-cream seller had stepped away to drink water in Saket in south Delhi and saw the box when he returned. Taking it to be a bomb, he alerted the police.

Men from the Saket police station refused to touch the object and called the police control room instead.
As hundreds gathered, police had a tough time diverting traffic and keeping onlookers away.
Eventually, after almost two hours, the bomb disposal squad arrived and opened the box - only to find it full of crayons. A municipal corporation school is located close by.
