A doctor and his driver, who were kidnapped over a month back in Rohtas district, have finally been rescued.
All five abductors have been held.
SK Sinha and his driver, who were kidnapped on February 7 on way to his clinic, were rescued after a raid on the hideout of the abductors at Shivpur village under Madanpur police station of Aurangabad district around 1am, Rohtas Superintendent of Police NH Khan said.
The five captors were arrested without any resistance and four pistols and 17 rounds of ammunition seized from them, he said.
Khan, who led the police team that raided the hideout, said that the police swooped down on the village on the basis of leads provided by a criminal arrested in Patna on Friday.
He said the gang comprised criminals from Rohtas, Patna and Jharkhand.
The doctor's kidnapping had triggered protests from the medical fraternity in Rohtas with doctors and chemists going on a day's strike on February 7.
The Rohtas district unit of the Indian Medical Association had threatened to go on an indefinite strike in the near future if the doctor was not found soon.
