The girls were handed over to their parents at Adalhat in Mirzapur.

Police said the girls had willingly gone to someone known to them in Dafi. They had not been kidnapped at all, SP (Mirzapur), Arun Kumar said. He added the girls’ father had borrowed Rs 4,000 and he was not in a position to return it.

When the moneylender mounted pressure on him to repay the loan, the borrower, framed a story of kidnap against the moneylender and his associates and sent his daughters- Rukhsana and Afsana to a safer place in Varanasi, the SP said.

Mohammad Hasan owns a handloom at Naithi village under the Adalhat police station in Mirzapur district. Following recession in the saree market, he had borrowed Rs 4000 from a moneylender a few years ago at a very high rate of interest- Rs 10 per month against Rs 100.

On Sunday, both the daughters disappeared mysteriously. When, the weaver along with his wife rushed to the police for search of their daughters, police said, they might have gone out willingly. Their complaint was not lodged by the SO.

On the instructions of the SP, Mirzapur, a case of kidnapping was registered by concerned police station against four persons, Wazir Bani, Hasan Abbas, Nand Kishore and Vijay Yadav on Friday.
