Refused sexual favours, a 19-year- old strangled his sister-in-law at their Ambernath residence.
The police arrested Ashok Ganpat Baanger after he confessed to his crime following sustained interrogation.
Investigating officer Police Inspector Ramchandra Aher of the Ambernath police station said the victim, Megha Baanger (27) lived with husband Deepak, (29) their one-year-old son Soham and brother-in-law Ashok at Umiya Krupa Apartment in Ambernath (East). Megha was a teacher in a Bhandup civic school.
The police said the accused Ashok, a student at an ITI (Industrial Technical Institutes), had many a time conveyed Megha his lust for her. She tried to make him un- derstand it was wrong but in vain.
Megha then complained to Deepak, who packed Ashok off to their native place.
However, two months ago, Ashok re- turned on promise of good behaviour. But he did not keep his word.
On October 18, Deepak left for his electrician’s job at Andheri and Megha was at home with her son. Ashok tried to force Megha into getting physical and she fought him back.
Ashok now feared the whole incident would be reported to his brother by Megha and strangled her.
Ashok told the police Megha committed suicide but the medical report brought out the truth. Then Deepak told the police of Ashok’s past behaviour.
Ashok broke down after many sessions of interrogation and confessed his crime.
