Debt-laden Kingfisher Airlines (KFA) owned by liquor baron Vijay Mallya is set to remain grounded for the next few days as talks between employees and management held in Delhi failed after the latter did not offer any commitment to pay overdue salaries.
KFA’s entire fleet has been grounded since Monday when the company announced a partial lockout and suspended operations. While KFA had initially said that the lockout was till October 4, the airline said it had been decided to keep operations suspended till October 12.
The possibility of the airline resuming operations even after October 12 remains bleak. The government has made it clear that KFA cannot resume operations without getting the nod from the aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. It will have to satisfy the regulator and the government, which have expressed concern over safety issues.
The airline has informed the National Stock Exchange that its Company Secretary, Bharath Raghavan, has quit the firm.
