“Kingfisher is not operational. It isn’t an active participant of ‘oneworld’ anymore,” Tom Horton, chairman of ‘oneworld’ and American Airways’ chief told HT on the sidelines of International Air Transport Association’s annual general meeting.

Kingfisher was slated to join oneworld last February but its joining was put on hold after financial problems plagued the carrier. The airline hasn’t operated a single flight since October last year when Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) suspended its operating licence.

The oneworld alliance includes some of the world’s leading airlines and around 30 affiliated carriers, like American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific and Qantas. Asked whether the alliance had any plans to induct Indian carriers especially the budget carriers, Horton said there were “no immediate plans” for induction from India.
