KMC?s new hoarding policy from July 1

THE KANPUR Municipal Corporation?s new policy on display of hoardings in the city will come into effect from July 1. For the first time hoardings according to their size will be displayed in specific areas of the city. This step had been taken to ensure the beautification of the roads and to avoid distraction to commuters. Taking another major decision, KMC increased the tax to be recovered from the hoardings to Rs 100 - Rs 200 per square feet.

This step had been taken to ensure the beautification of the roads and to avoid distraction to commuters. Taking another major decision, KMC increased the tax to be recovered from the hoardings to Rs 100 - Rs 200 per square feet. So far the amount charged from the hoardings was between Rs 15 - Rs 20 per square feet.

Another landmark decision taken by the KMC was the installation of hoardings of specific sizes in specified areas of the city. From Murray Company flyover to Bakarmandi at Chunniganj, the hoarding size had been fixed at 30 x 15 feet. In this stretch of road only hoardings of 30 x 15 feet will be allowed to be displayed by the KMC. On the stretch of road leading from Bakarmandi to Benajhabar, Nawabganj and Rawatpur the size of the hoarding had been as 20 x 10 feet. The decision to curtail the size of hoardings on this stretch of road was taken keeping in view the flow of heavy traffic on this route and the width of road.

Deputy municipal commissioner LC Maurya said that KMC’s new hoarding policy would come into effect from July 1.

In another policy decision, KMC made it mandatory to display the zone, name of the road, advertisement number and name of agency along with date of validity on the hoarding itself.
