Kodnani could surrender

Gujarat's Minister of State for Women and Child Development and Higher Education Maya Kodnani would surrender to the Special Investigating Team looking into the 2002 communal riot cases, if she is refused anticipatory bail.

Gujarat's Minister of State for Women and Child Development and Higher Education Maya Kodnani would surrender to the Special Investigating Team (SIT) looking into the 2002 communal riot cases, if she is refused anticipatory bail on Thursday, sources close to her told HT.

Kodnai and former VHP’s Gujarat general secretary Jaideep Patel have moved the Ahmedabad Sessions Court for anticipatory bail. SIT sources said Kodnani had appeared before the team on January 30. She was confronted with evidence about her presence in the riot-hit areas based on her cellphone record after which she disappeared.
