WATER SUPPLY in most parts of the City was affected on Wednesday following the closure of the Kolar pipeline. Water supply will also be affected on Thursday.
The repairing of about a dozen leakages in the gravity main and feeder main pipeline of Kolar has been in progress and was likely to have been completed by late night Wednesday. Pumping from Kolar Filtration Plant will be started anytime during the night.
The Kolar supply system was closed at 3 am on Wednesday and the pipeline de-watered with the help of pumps. BMC officials said it takes about 10-12 hours for water to reach Chuna Bhatti from the Kolar Filtration Plant.
It is likely that Kolar water will reach most of the areas by late Thursday evening. But, normal water supply in all areas connected to Kolar will be started only on Friday morning. Kolar pipeline caters to the needs of 65 per cent areas of the State capital.
Water supply was affected in the areas including Arera Colony, Shahpura, 1100 Quarters, Nehru Nagar, Kotra Sultanabad, Govindpura, Janata Colony, Indrapuri, Sonagiri, Chandbarh, Moti Masjid area, Ginnauri, Shastri Nagar, Jawahar Chowk, South TT Nagar, PGBT, Narialkheda, Ibrahimganj, JP Nagar, Putlighar, Arif Nagar, Saket Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Barkhedi, Jehangirabad, Subhash Nagar, Ashoka Garden, Bal Vihar and others.
Meanwhile, water supply from Karbala pump houses was restored on Wednesday after it was closed following a valve burst on Tuesday evening.
