Korea did what the more talented Africans could not in a World Cup. As the co-hosts in 2002, South Korea became the first Asian team to reach the semifinals.
By achieving that, they went a step more than North Korea, who reached the quarterfinals in 1966 World Cup.
But their road to Germany wasn't smooth. Three coaches were changed during their qualifying campaign, but they survived the scare.
They do have a very good chance of entering the second round in Germany. They are expected to beat Togo and even Switzerland to take the second spot behind France in Group G.
