Himachal Pradesh government on Wednesday appointed KS Tomar as the chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC).

At present, Tomar is a senior associate editor with Hindustan Times in Jaipur. The state government appointed Tomar under Article 316 of the Constitution.

Tomar (58) has been appointed for a six-year tenure from the date on which he joins office or until he attains the age of 62 years, whichever is earlier. He hails from Toron village in Paonta Sahib sub-division of Himachal.
Tomar started his career as a journalist from a weekly in Shimla and later joined the Hindustan Times. Tomar has also worked in Kathmandu.
