Admission to all campus courses of Kurukshetra University will be done online, said vice-chancellor Lt Gen (retd) DDS Sandhu here on Saturday.
After addressing a meeting of the internal quality assurance cell of the university, Sandhu said the university would organise faculty-wise induction programmes for new students in July, provide them career guidance, sensitise them on gender, environment and library facilities.
“The number of departments under special assistance programme and fund for improvement of S&T infrastructure in higher educational institutions will be increased in the current academic year. We will also sign memoranda of understanding with national and international laboratories, policy making agencies and research centres. Extension activities will be further enhanced this year,” Sandhu said.
He said KU would begin student mentoring and would focus on further enriching its research profile by motivating teachers in bringing projects from agencies such as University Grants Commission (UGC), Department of Science and Technology (DST), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), World Bank and Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR).
Sandhu said the university would create a centralised research facility and equipment worth Rs 15 crore would be purchased so that its faculty, 362 affiliated colleges and universities in North can avail its benefit.
