Kufri receives season's first snowfall

Tourist destination Kufri received its first spell of mild snowfall on Saturday. However, it melted soon. Meanwhile, higher reaches in the state yet again experienced snowfall, leading to fall in temperatures and gripping the state under cold wave.

Meanwhile, higher reaches in the state yet again experienced snowfall, leading to fall in temperatures and gripping the state under cold wave.

The minimum temperature across the state further dropped by one to four notches as compared to the previous day. The state capital woke up to a clear sunny sky in the morning, but cloudy sky prevailed after noon with mild rain and sleet in the evening.

Shimla meteorological department director Manmohan Singh confirmed the first spell of mild snowfall at Kufri. He said with western disturbances passing over Jammu and Kashmir, the weather is likely to improve in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, subzero temperatures was recorded in tribal districts of the state.

Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti was the coldest with minimum temperatures dipping to - 5.7 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature recorded in Shimla was 4.1 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 5.2 Bhunter 4.6, Dharmasala 8.6, Una 8.4, Nahan 8, Dalhousie 3, Solan 4, Chamba 5.2, Manali 0.2, Kangra 9, Bilaspur 9 and Hamirpur 6.4 degrees Celsius.
