Kullu district declared smoke-free

Kullu district was declared smoke-free on Monday under the Control Of Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) by deputy commissioner Sharab Negi in a programme organised by health department here. Kullu has become the first district in the state, which has been declared smoke-free.

Kullu district was declared smoke-free on Monday under the Control Of Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) by deputy commissioner Sharab Negi in a programme organised by health department here.

Kullu has become the first district in the state, which has been declared smoke-free.

Negi said this was the result of collective efforts of Himachal Pradesh Voluntary Health Association (HPVHA), health department, other officials of the district and common people.

District nodal officer Susheel Chander Sahrma said, last year 3,700 people were challaned for smoking at public places in the district.
