"I have not decided as of now whether to contest the bypoll or not. But voters of Chennapatna are pressurising me to contest. Even personally, I am not interested. I don't know how to take a decision", he told reporters in Bangalore.

On Sunday, Kumaraswamy had hinted that he might be the JD-S candidate from Chennapatna, a seat that fell vacant following "poaching" of the party MLA M C Ashwath by BJP a few months ago.

JD-S supremo H D Devegowda, Kumaraswamy's father, is also not in favour of his son contesting the seat, as he is a Lok Sabha member from Bangalore Rural Constituency.

Kumaraswamy said that his top priority was to ensure that JD-S retained the seat and has convened a meeting of senior leaders of the constituency on Monday to arrive at a final decision.

JD-S would contest all the three seats on its own, he said, ruling out any poll pact with Congress.
