Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday appealed to Governor Rameshwar Thakur to provide him an opportunity to prove his majority on the floor of the House in the backdrop of his coalition partner BJP deciding to withdraw support to the government.
"I will meet the governor and request him to allow me to seek floor test as per the Constitutional requirement", he told reporters after holding consultations with partymen at JDS Legislature Party meeting.
"I should be given a chance to prove majority," he said.
He, however ruled out seeking Congress support during the floor test, saying "we prefer mid-term elections".
The Legislature session called on October 18 was not for engaging in horse trading to prove majority but to tell the house and people of the state on the developments that unfolded on power transfer issue, he said.
Rejecting BJP's allegations of JDS betraying it on power transfer, Kumaraswamy said "I am not guilty. I am not responsible for it. It is the manipulative politics and conspiracy by some BJP leaders at the state and Central level that prevented power transfer and Yediyurappa from becoming the chief minister".
