"I don't want to sit and watch a One-Day International. I want to be playing in the eleven," Kumble told The Hindu daily.

Kumble, 34, who holds the Indian Test record of 434 wickets jointly with legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev, was "rested" along with Laxman for three one-dayers in Bangladesh starting on December 23.

The Indian board announced the team on Thursday saying Kumble was not keen to play while Laxman had been dropped because his fielding was not up to the mark for one-dayers.

"We have rested Laxman and Kumble in a bid to try some youngsters," board joint secretary Gautam Dasgupta had said on the last day of the second Test against South Africa in Kolkata.
