Kunal Ganjawala strives to go versatile

The singer, however, tells Ritujaay Ghosh that he is yet to find his place in the music industry.

He has been in the industry for a while now and is a favourite with both music directors and audiences for his distinct voice. But singer Kunal Ganjawala feels that he is yet to find his place in the industry.

“I’ve to work hard for at least a few more years,” he says. His songs, Dil na diya (Krrish), Har manzar (Baabul), So jaaon main (Woh Lamhe) have all been hits but Kunal doesn’t take all credit for the success of his songs.

“I’m just one of the many people responsible for making songs work. I think the music director’s role is the most important in this context,” smirks Kunal.

The singer is ready to experiment, “Maybe that’s why the songs work. Each one is different from the other and appeals to different listeners.” The singer is ready to prove himself on every assignment. “I have Traffic Signal, The Hangman, Saawariya and Love Story 2050 among others. I am keeping my fingers crossed for Love Story… because I am Harman’s (Baweja) voice in this film. Anuji has done a fabulous job,” affirms Kunal.

The singer is excited about working with Bappi Lahiri, with whom he has recently recorded for Sholay. “He understands the new generation in spite of his years. He can still come up with contemporary beats that no other composer has produced.”
