Kurukshetra gears up for solar eclipse

The city is ready to receive more than 15 lakh pilgrims coming from various places of the country to take a holy dip in sacred Brahm Sarovar.

The land of Mahabharata, Kurukshetra is ready to receive more than 15 lakh pilgrims coming from various places of the country to take a holy dip in sacred Brahm Sarovar on the occasion of Solar Eclipse on Wednesday.

More than three lakh pilgrims have already arrived in solar eclipse fair in the city till Tuesday, where the state government has made elaborate transport arrangements for the pilgrim.

Six special trains were running from Delhi to Kurukshetra besides 250 buses of Haryana Roadways, which were plying from various corners of the state to carry the pilgrims.

The entire mela area had been divided into 12 sectors and every such sector had been equipped with a health centre, telephone, fire tender under a Sector Magistrate vigil. Tight security arrangement had also been made by the administration, he added.

He said that to rescue the people from drowning during the holy dip 32 swimmers and divers besides 18 motor and rowing boats had been arranged.
