The tunnel was part of a project to solve the drinking water problem of Udaipur city. Singh was working in the 3.3-km-long tunnel when it collapsed last Thursday.

District collector Hemant Kumar Gera said efforts were on to rescue Singh. A team of engineers has reached 12 metres inside the tunnel, and with the removal of three metres of debris, they would be able to reach Singh on Wednesday.
