Lady head constable arrested for accepting bribe in Beed

A lady head constable was today arrested after being caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a complainant, police said.

Vimal Vasantrao Wadmare, a lady head constable with the Kaij police station Beed, had demanded the amount from the complainant Shaikh Ayub Shaikh Rustum for doing official favour, they said.

Rustum approached the anti-corruption bureau who laid a trap and caught Wadmare red-handed, police said adding that subsequently, Wadmare was arrested.

A case has been registered against her and further investigations are on, they said.
