Putting all speculations to rest, the former two times MP, Lal Singh, who recently parted ways with the Congress, has finally made up his mind to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.
"Yes, I am joining the BJP," confirmed Singh, talking to Hindustan Times, adding that as the present days are not propitious as per the rituals in the Hindu mythology, he is looking for an auspicious day to announce his joining.
Lal Singh, who after his recent announcement of quitting the Congress, had gone to New Delhi and reportedly held talks with BJP national president Amit Shah.
The former Congress MP, who announced his split-up with the Congress, had levelled serious allegations against Ghulam Nabi Azad, holding him responsible for his decision to quit the party.
Singh had kept his options open for joining any political party. "The BJP is a nationalist party and I am sure to be an asset for the party in the forthcoming assembly elections," said he, when asked why he opted for the saffron party only.
Jammu and Kashmir BJP in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna when asked about Lal Singh's move to join the party, said, "Let him join the party first and then we shall think over his role in the party."
Meanwhile, the reports of Singh joining the party had raised some eyebrows among the prospective candidates in the BJP, as Singh's joining with his followers may hit their prospects of getting the tickets in the coming assembly polls.
The heavyweight former Congress leader has been meeting his followers in his home town Basholi. He has also been meeting people of Billawar and Bani areas, which are considered his strongholds.

"Lal Singh is likely to join the BJP with his wife Kanta Andotra and couple of his close confidants and may seek tickets for Billawar and Bani, which are his strongholds," says a source privy to the former Congress MP, adding the move may deprive tickets to at least two sitting BJP MLAs -- Master Lal Chand (Bani) and recently-included MLA Jagdish Raj Sapolia (Basholi).
