The firing took place at Kantapahari, Bhulageria and Kadasole areas, which were liberated by the central forces and the police in anti-maoist operations on June 19.

At least 300 Maoists have sneaked into Lalgarh, the sources said, adding that there was no casualty in the firing, the sources said.

Meanwhile, a CPI(M) local committee office at Dherua, around 22 km from Lalgarh, was ransacked by the People’s Committee Against Police Atrocities, police said.

The PCPA members felled trees at Tandra and other areas on roads leading to Lalgarh and organised a rally at Mehmul, near Salboni and at Madhupur to protest ‘atrocities’ during anti-Maoist operations by security forces, they said.

The police said the PCPA has engaged some quacks to attend to villagers at Chuasole village.
