Lalu Prasad in Mumbai hospital with ‘multiple heart conditions’

RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was brought to Asian Heart Hospital in Bandra-Kurla Complex on Monday morning. Doctors at the hospital said that he has complained of discomfort and was advised to undergo a detailed medical investigation at the hospital.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad was on Monday admitted to the Asian Heart Institute after a check-up for ‘multiple heart conditions’. The doctors at the hospital said that the course of his treatment would be decided on Tuesday.

According to hospital officials, Prasad underwent various blood investigations, echocardiogram and stress tests.

The RJD chief is admitted under the care of Dr Ramakanta Panda, VC and MD, Asian Heart Institute.

Panda was a part of the team of doctors that performed a bypass surgery on former prime minister Manmohan Singh in the past.

Sources said that Prasad was busy in the election preparations and hence was unable to come earlier.

Hospital spokesperson denied that Prasad required a heart valve replacement surgery. Meanwhile, Prasad’s wife, daughter and son-in-law are at the hospital.
