Lalu-Rabri temple hits code violation

Rajeshwar Yadav at whose initiative a 'Lalu-Rabri temple' was being built at Alampur village of Bihar’s Rohtas district at an estimated cost of Rs 54 lakh, was taken into custody for violation of model code of conduct on Sunday, police said. Yadav, a die-hard supporter of the couple, had performed the 'bhumi pujan' for the construction of the temple on March 1 at Alampur village.

Rajeshwar Yadav at whose initiative a 'Lalu-Rabri temple' was being built at Alampur village of Bihar’s Rohtas district at an estimated cost of Rs 54 lakh, was taken into custody for violation of model code of conduct on Sunday, police said today.

Yadav, a die-hard supporter of the couple, had performed the 'bhumi pujan' for the construction of the temple on March 1 at Alampur village under Baddi police station area of the district, about 20 km from Sasaram, in an area of 2800 sq ft.

The work on the temple’s building was in a full swing but with the model code of conduct coming into force, the police arrested Yadav for violating the poll code under Representation of People’s Act (RPA), Superintendent of Police Vikas Vaibhav said.

Yadav, however, was released on bail by the police, he said.

Mukhiya Devi, the mother of Yadav, was playing a pioneering role in the construction of the temple and had donated land for the purpose. Public donations were also received.
