KN Rao Yadav, chairman of Vijayawada district board, gifted the pair of Ongole breed to Lalu Prasad. The animals are at present kept at Lalu Prasad's animal farm in Danapur, on the outskirts of the capital.

"I will teach them Hindi and Bhojpuri to understand us and adjust in the local environment. It will take some time because currently they only understand Telugu or some words of English," the minister said.

According to Rao, the bull belongs to Nandi clan, the mythological bull of Lord Shiva. "The bull was reared in the native village of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister NT Rama Rao," he said.

Rao said it was gifted to Lalu Prasad to bring good luck to him. "When I told Lalu Prasad during his visit to Andhra Pradesh early this month about the bull, he showed interest in it," he said.
