Lata Mangeshkar lights up radio show
The legendary singer gave the second radio interbiew of her career on radio City.
A rainy morning in Mumbai was brightened up by legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar giving the second radio interview of her career, reminiscing her early days in the music industry and her favourite songs.
"It was a good experience. Sonu (Nigam) asked me all the right questions, not the run of the mill ones which are asked all the time. He is a very good singer, but as a radio jockey I will give him 110 marks on 100," Mangeshkar said amid laughter at the Radio City office here after her stint before the microphone for the live programme.
Nigam, who interviewed Mangeshkar for three hours from 8:30 a.M., in what has been only her second radio interview during her entire career, covered the entire journey so far, right from her first steps as a singer, to her brief role as a music director for Marathi films.
"There are many things that I have revealed here for the first time, because I felt comfortable with him. We even told each other jokes, there was laughter. I had fun," she said.
When asked what she felt about radio as a medium for popularising music, Mangeshkar said "there are some good things in this generation and some bad. Both are being brought together (through radio) and that is a good thing."
Earlier, she was welcomed with flowers and escorted from her house at Pedder Road in south Mumbai to the station's office in suburban Bandra in a vintage car by Nigam.
