Latur girl tops M'rashtra Class X exam

A total of 16,08,278 students had appeared for the exams out of which 10,38,722 came out successful.

Monika Mallinath Mashalkar of Latur topped the Maharashtra Secondary School exams (SSC) conducted by the State Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board.

A student of Adarsh Vidyala, Umarga (Osmanabad district), Monika secured 725 marks out of 750 (96.66 per cent) to top the state, the education board chairman Vasant Kalpande said.

Two students of Aurangabad and Amravati divisions were tied at the second spot while the fourth place in the state merit list went to a student from Pune, he added.

Nisha Kailasrao Lagad, a student of Dwarkadas Mantri Rajasthani Vidyalaya, Beed (Aurangabad Division), and Arshaiya Tarannum Sayeed Yousuf of Janata Shikshan Prasarak Mandal Urdu High School, Fulsavangi, Yavatmal (Amravati Division) secured 724 marks (96.53 per cent) to share the second place.

Pune's Jamandar Afreen Sikandar of Anglo Urdu Girls High School, New Modikhana, Pune (Pune Division) was placed in the fourth place with 723 marks (96.40 per cent).

The total pass percentage for this year examination for Class X was 64.59 per cent. A total of 16,08,278 students had appeared for the examination out of which 10,38,722 came out successful, Kalpande said.
