Working in the Allahabad High Court was paralysed on Tuesday despite the call given by the Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) not to go on strike on the issue of judges' transfer.
Describing the Monday's strike unjustified, an emergency meeting of the HC Bar Association said that without a decision of the HCBA, a handful of lawyers entered into the courtrooms and compelled the courts to rise.
The HCBA declared that the HC Bar Association would not meddle with the transfer of judges as the transfer of judges comes into the domain of the Supreme Court and condemned those who resorted to compelling tactics in the courts. The meeting, presided over by VC Mishra president of the Bar and conducted by Acharya Rajesh Tripathi, joint secretary, unanimously resolved to suspend Chote Lal Pandey and Jagdish Singh Senger from the membership of the Bar for creating disturbance and compelling the courts to rise without a decision of the Bar.
It is also alleged that they used the filthy language against the president of HC Bar Association. The HCBA also decided to issue show-cause notice to them to explain their conduct and thereafter the matter would be placed before the general body of HCBA for taking appropriate decision and restore the discipline in the Bar. The HCBA also gave a message to the judiciary to maintain the cordial relations between the Bench and the Bar on the basis of mutual reverence so that both may stand together during the crisis.

{{/usCountry}}Although all the judges came to the court in the morning at 10 am but a section of lawyers requested them not to do judicial work. Firstly, the request was made to the court looking after criminal matters. Later, they made similar request to the courts hearing civil and service matters. Gradually all the judges retired to their chambers.
To recall, the collegium of Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnana had recently recommended the transfer of three judges of the Allahabad High Court to enable a fair and impartial probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the much talked-about Ghaziabad Provident Fund scam. Addressing the meeting of HCBA, the speakers said that during the tenure of the former Chief Justice Venkatchaelaiya, as many as 16 judges of this court were transferred, but the then Bar did not pass any resolution opposing the transfer and did not go on strike.
Further, the then chairman of Bar Council of India, who as a statutory head of the Indian Bar, was suspended for three years from practising as an advocate, but the Bar did not oppose and did not resort to strike.
Advocates' body flays transfers the advocates' Association of Allahabad High Court, a parallel body of the Bar, has condemned the transfer of some Judges of Allahabad High Court.
In a joint statement, the president and secretary of Advocates Association KL Grover and Bishram Tiwari respectively declared that the transfer by the Chief Justice of the apex court was biased, arbitrary and mala fide apart from being without jurisdiction.
They requested the President of India that recommendation of the Chief Justice of India for the transfer of judges be rejected.
