India's stylish batsman VVS Laxman retired hurt on Saturday after being hit by a rising delivery from Mohammad Sami on his left eyebrow and has been kept under observation.

Laxman, who came to bat after the fall of skipper Sourav Ganguly, got injured while on 2 in the first session of fourth day's play during the second cricket Test against Pakistan.

"He has a swelling in his eye but there is no cut. We are just keeping him under observation. Apart from sewlling there is no other problem," sources close to the team said.
They said Laxman's condition was not serious and expressed confidence that he would be able to come out and bat.
