BHOPAL POLICE on Friday claimed to have cracked one of the most sensational murder cases in the city. With the interrogation of Himanshu Mishra, arrested for making a murderous assault on the daughter-in-law of former State chief minister Virendra Saklecha recently, complete, the murder mystery of an elderly woman Laxmi Dhar has been solved.

Laxmi Dhar was found brutally murdered at her house in Govind Garden in April this year.
Addressing a press conference, SP Anant Kumar Singh on Friday said Mishra, 31, resident of Saket Nagar, was a friend of Laxmi Dhar’s son, Abhijeet and he often visited the Dhar household.
Abhijeet had visited Bhilai to attend Mishra’s marriage over a year ago and there he joked around with the latter’s sister-in-law that had enraged Mishra, police said. After the incident they fell out with each other.
Mishra wanted to have a face-to-face with Abhijeet but the latter reportedly evaded him and whenever contacted on phone would say that he was out of town. Besides, Mishra had to obtain his lawyer’s fee of Rs 6,000 from Abhijeet. He nursed the grudge against Abhijeet and when visited the Dhar household on April 18, Abhijeet’s mother Laxmi opened the door as she knew him well.
The accused demanded money and the elderly woman reportedly took him to the almirah and showed the passbook. The accused still insisted on getting his money and snatched the ATM card, said police. As she yelled for help, the accused put adhesive tape on her mouth before tying her. Fearing that he would be arrested, the accused stabbed her to death.
