EVEN AS LESA and Jal Sansthan are sharpening their shears to snap power and water supplies of illegal constructions, the LDA has added five more buildings to the hit list forwarded by it to these departments.

The latest additions, according to the LDA are: The commercial complex built by Shravan Kumar Agarwal at 4 Sapru Marg, bang opposite the SSP residence. Messrs PK Builders adjacent to TS Motors on Shahnajaf Road, building constructed by Naseem and partners on Newal Kishore Road (behind Mirza Tower), the Mirza Tower itself and last but not the least, the complex at 58 Love Lane on Mahatma Gandhi Marg.

“All these structures are absolutely illegal as they have been constructed without getting their building plan approved by the LDA,” said LDA Vice Chairman BB Singh. Apart from these five, there are at least 21 other unauthorised constructions in Zone-I alone.

Notable among them are illegal constructions of additional superintendent of police Paresh Pandey in Sector J Ambika Vihar on Kanpur Road, slain BJP MLC Ajit Singh in Sector D behind polytechnic, Adhar Shila Building on VIP Road owned by Pankaj Verma, ABC Complex and a structure opposite City Montessori School in Sector-D belonging to Vir Pal Singh Yadav.

The LDA bulldozers, he said would be pressed into service, once the power and water supply connections of these buildings are snapped.

Fearing an MCD like onslaught various traders’ outfits in the State capital have already come out on the streets to protest the drive.

“It is common knowledge that no unauthorised building can come up without the connivance of the builder and the engineer concerned. But neither the erring builder, who has disappeared from the scene after selling the shops to gullible people, nor the corrupt erring engineers under whose patronage these structures were built are being penalized in this process,” points out Sanjay Gupta of the UP Adarsh Vyapar Mandal, the traders’ outfit that took out a torchlight procession in Hazratagnj on Saturday to protest the LDA move.
