CPI(m) State Secretary, Pinarayi Vijayan, on Sunday said that the Marxist party led Left Democratic Front (LDF) will achieve an impressive win the forthcoming civic polls in the state.

Speaking at a meet-the-leader programme of the Calicut Press Club in Chennai, Vijayan said that his front was placed in a favourable 'political climate', while the UDF was going backward and was in a bad situation.
Expressing the hope that LDF will better its 2005 civic poll performances, Vijayan alleged that the UDF had entered into unholy alliances with communalist forces in several places.
Vijayan alleged that the policy of the UDF in this civic poll was to create an impression that the christian church was against LDF.
Reiterating that religion should not dabble with politics, Vijayan said that the recent church pastrol council resolution which had said church should devote in human services, was welcome.
Vijayan alleged that the Congress and BJP candidates are contesting in common electoral symbols like 'mango' and 'apple' in certain panchayats.
The wrong policies followed by the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre had resulted in petroleum products price rise, he alleged.
Pointing out that the LDF government in the state was performing very well, he said the development could be witnessed across the state.
