Even before the dust has settled on the controversial privatisation route followed for modernisation of Delhi and Mumbai airports, the Left parties on Thursday cautioned the government that joint venture route for Kolkata and Chennai airports was "totally unacceptable".

Taking strong exception to comments by Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel that JV route was being considered for airports in the two other metros, top Left leaders shot off a missive to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding an "authoritative policy pronouncement" on the subject in line with the Common Minimum Programme.
