"We would also appeal to the people not to fall prey to any provocation. The whole country must unitedly face the situation," CPI(M) Polit Buro member Sitaram Yechury said.

While security should be beefed up across the country, efforts should be made on war-footing to provide medical help and relief to the victims, the CPI(M) leader said.

Condemning the blasts, CPI National Secretary D Raja demanded a thorough probe into the incident and appealed to the people to uphold peace and harmony.

He said the attack in the financial capital of the country was intended to affect the national economy.
