“The shocking and disgraceful act by the Lok Sabha MP reflects badly on his status as a Parliament member and his party should come to terms with the reality,” the CPI-M Politburo said in a statement. It recalled that earlier six MPs from the party were expelled from Parliament for their involvement in the cash for query scam.

The CPI Central Secretariat deplored that the MP’s conduct had brought disrepute to Parliament and the Indian democracy and demanded that the human trafficking angle in the case be thoroughly probed and strict action be initiated against Katara.

The CPI-M also condemned the attack on Star News television channel office in Mumbai and demanded the arrest of all those responsiblefor the act.
