The UPA-Left Coordination Committee meeting, to be held later in the day, comes at a time when the Left has announced "common understanding" on several matters.

The common understanding is needed on the matters that include pacifying Samajwadi Party, which along with TDP has threatened to move a no-confidence motion in the Budget session of Parliament beginning on February 16.

The leaders, however, did not elaborate on the discussions held in the meeting.

UPA-Left Coordination Committee meeting assumes significance as the CPI(M) politburo leaders, after their meeting in Kolkata on Friday, issued a veiled threat to Congress that a new situation might emerge if Government voted against Iran at the March 6 IAEA meeting.
