There is latent anger among people about the sitting Left MP not keeping his promises, but the Forward Bloc's new nominee is telling people that his predecessor never returned because he was sick.
Forward Bloc's (FB) Subrata Bose had won from Barasat Lok Sabha seat in 2004, but his record of not returning to his people threatens to topple the party in this constituency in the May 13 election.
"We expected Bose to be as helpful as his predecessors. But he hardly came to help us," a local resident said.
However, the FB's nominee Sudin Chattopadhyay said, "Opposition allegations that Bose did not visit the constituency during his tenure should be seen in right perspective. He was sick and his family passed through a lot of turmoils."
Moreover, the alliance between the Congress and the Trinamool Congress could further make the journey to Lok Sabha tough for the Left candidate.
"The favourable response of voters is giving me confidence. Voters, particularly of rural areas have been overwhelmingly coming to our rallies and roadshows," Trinamool Congress (TC) candidate from Barasat Ghosh Dastidar said.
