The party has also promised that creating democratic space and a "secularist approach" would be its primary agenda if voted to power in next month's assembly polls.

In its 70-page manifesto the opposition Trinamool Congress alleged that during the "misrule" of the Left Front the state's economy had not only been left in shambles, but the biggest damage has been done by destroying the work environment at all levels by politicisation of the administration and state-run institutions.

"Politicisation to such an extent has absolutely squeezed democratic space in society. It is now almost a semi-fascist state," the party said in its manifesto released a couple of days ago.

The party, which is an alliance partner of the BJP led-NDA, also promises a, "secularist approach" and to, "bring all sections and communities on the path of secularism," in an obvious attempt to woo the state's sizeable Muslim electorate.
