Former Beatle John Lennon’s killer, Mark David Chapman confessed to having repented his actions, before a parole board, a transcript revealed.
Chapman had appeared before the parole board on October 10, and claimed that after shooting Lennon he had begged God to reverse the time.
He said that he "regrets right away" why he killed the former Beatle, but was denied parole.
"I would like to say I felt horrible," New York Daily News quoted him as saying during the 16-minute hearing.
"I was asking God to change back time and try to find some way out of it," he said.
Chapman, who is serving a 20-years-to-life sentence, shot Lennon four times outside The Dakota on West 72nd St. on December 8, 1980.
He said that he regretted not changing his mind despite having ample opportunity to do so.
"I believe that if I really wanted to, I could have changed my mind," he said, "I had ample opportunity to do it and I didn't do it and I regret that deeply."
Chapman also said that he murdered Lennon in a twisted bid for attention.
