A leopard was found dead in Rani Khet area of Almora district, officials said in Rishikesh on Friday.

Locals informed the forest department officials in the morning after they sighted the animal, following which officials reached the spot and took the body in their custody, they said.

Preliminary investigation suggested the animal was suffering from pneumonia and died last night due to that, they said, adding the body has been sent for post mortem.
