The incident happened on Tuesday in Syun Malli village when a lurking leopard pounced on Guddu who was playing with his siblings in the house, official sources said.

Before family members could come to Guddu's rescue, the big cat took him away to a nearby forest and killed him.

The half-eaten body of the kid was later recovered, the sources said adding forest officials had put up a cage to catch the animal.

Some 20 people had been killed in leopard attacks in the state this winter so far, the sources said.
