Protesting the day-long power outage in the area on Saturday, the Lucknow Vyapar Mandal alleged that there was a conspiracy to ruin the Hazratganj market, though LESA officials attributed the crisis to an underground cable fault.

Hazratganj has been facing an acute power crisis since Friday night after a fault occurred in an underground cable.

In a statement, Lucknow Vyapar Mandal media leader, Chandra Kumar Chhabra accused the power department officials of not properly supplying electricity to Hazratganj as a part of some conspiracy to ruin the market.

He said there was a lot of resentment among traders over third-grade power supply and were planning an agitation. He demanded the UPPCL management to take action against the officials responsible for recurrent blackouts in Hazratganj.

On the other hand, around a dozen localities, including a part of Kaiserbagh faced an acute crisis after the entire Residency sub-station went out of order following a fault in its incoming feeder around 4 pm.

The supply could not be restored till late evening though the repair work was in full swing. Among the areas where darkness prevailed included Kaiserbagh, River Bank, Golaganj, Panditnagar, Balrampur Hospital and the surrounding places.

Power crisis was also reported from localities like Sector N Ashiyana, La Place, Gokhale Marg, Rajendra Nagar, Charbagh and Aminabad.
