The Aam Adami Party (AAP) Maharashtra convener Anjali Damania surprised everyone here on Friday when she said that the party will welcome everybody — including BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi or the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim — to its organisation.

Reacting to Uddhav Thackeray’s write-up in the Friday’s edition of Saamna terming Arvind Kejriwal as the item girl of politics and saying Rakhi Sawant would do a better job as the chief minister of Delhi, Damania said: “If Thackeray holds Rakhi Sawant in such high regard, he should make her Shiv Sena’s CM candidate in the assembly elections.”

Though she described the NCP as a “party of robbers”, she said Sena was “second worst” in Maharashtra.

Damania, who was in Nagpur to inaugurate the party’s new office, however, said the party would not give any position or nomination for any election to such people. “If anyone wants to join our party, how can we deny their entry?” she said.

Later, Damania backtracked her statement and said any citizen of India who has not been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude, is welcome to join AAP as an ordinary/primary member.
