The lie-detector tests performed on the three suspects in the Sarthak Chawla murder case have reportedly revealed nothing. The suspects are the murdered 5-year-old’s parents and their housing society’s guard.
The test result reports were received last week, police said.
Sarthak, the only son of a homoeopathic doctor couple, was murdered inside their Raj Nagar residence on the evening of February 5, 2009. His mother was stabbed 18 times, but survived. The mother and the child were the only two persons in the flat when the incident took place, police officials said.
Senior Superintendent of Police Raghubir Lal said, Sarthak’s mother Dr Deepti Chawla has emerged as the prime suspect but there was not enough evidence to nail her.
The police maintain that all the doors of the flat were locked from the inside and no person from outside the house was involved.
But in the statement given to the police two days after the murder, Deepti Chawla had stated that it was some unidentified assailant who had entered the room, sprayed some perfume to intoxicate her and assaulted her and the child.
Sarthak’s father Dr. Rajesh Chawla had earlier told HT that one of the doors in the balcony was open and the culprit may have escaped through it.
